Background

Contentsquare’s HR team wanted to refresh the Careers area of the site.

Following a surge in traffic due to series funding, the HR team felt the Careers area was not at its full potential to serve the needs of thousands of viewers. Directing users to a straightforward third party job board, it lacked personality, key functionality, and information before moving users through the recruitment process.

Context

This project came with a lot of creative freedom.

My role.

Drive the design and UX for the entire project, working closely with Brand and Development.

The outcome.

A more interactive and approachable Careers section, with additional content and functionality requirements by the team.

The design

I created designs exploring layouts based on the HR team’s needs. They were then passed to a brand designer to add branded elements and Development to discuss constraints. UX, Brand, and Development team members addressed any last iterations to create the final result.

Here are a couple examples of the UX before the final result.

Careers Page

Things to note:

The HR team had a lot of CTAs and content they wanted the user to be able to access, but it all had to be on one page. Some design choices I made because of this include:

  • Adding hierarchy to the CTAs within the hero, to make common actions easy to access as well as differentiated based on need.

  • Using a secondary navigation bar that helps users anchor to sections most important to them.

  • Making more use of tabs and carousels to fit a wide variety of information within a small space—the added interactivity makes it more delightful than just reading through a wealth of information.

  • Ample navigation to other site areas or channels that may be helpful to the recruitment process.

In addition, the team wanted to create their own search engine rather than relying on a third party whose engine was not able to be customized and was limited in functionality.
